How to Study & Meditate God’s Word?

Here is a sample study given for your benefit.  Please use this as a guideline as you study & meditate God’s Word.

Study Scripture: 2Corinthians 4:18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Study:

The context (2Corinthians 4:16&17): Paul is talking about our outer man perishing due to sickness, process of aging and accidents, etc.  Paul is also talking about our light affliction as we live in this world.

To whom it is written?  It is written to the believers of the church in Corinth.

Interpretation: Seeing the unseen.  We believers are called to walk by faith not by sight.  We need to fix our eyes on the things that are not seen.  Means, we can’t lust at the things that are seen in this world.

Reason:  Things that are seen are temporary.

Meditation:

  • Meditation is pondering in the heart according to Luke 2:19, Psalm 4:4 and Psalm 19:14
  • Be in prayer, rest on God.
  • Allow the spirit of God to search your heart
  • Spirit of God brings into surface the things of the world where our eyes are fixed today.
  • Times when we substituted God with our friendship, our work, our wealth, etc.
  • Jesus said, we don’t belong to this word. But areas in our life we appear to be permanent residents of this world.
  • You hear God comforting you for the things you don’t have in your life. You hear God telling you, “only I am permanent, the rest are all going to go away”. Come to me.

Prayer:

  • Ask God’s forgiveness in those areas where our life is not in line with God’s Word
  • Pray & take decisions of those areas of life where we need to change.

Implement:

Implement these decisions taken.  That means we are applying 2Corinthians 4:18 in our life.

If you do everyday, your personal walk with the Lord is going to improve.

  • Word of God becomes a treasure for you.
  • You hear God speaking to you.
  • This is the only authentic way of God speaking to man.

The grass withers, the flower fades, tongues will cease, prophecies will fail, but the word of our God stands forever.
